Have you ever wondered what the actual average cost per
acre for fertilizer was on irrigated corn in your farming
operation? Or how much your operating expense ratio was?
Ever wonder how your operation compares with the rest of
the producers in your county? Wonder no more. We have
just the tools you've been looking for!
All farm analyses are prepared by using software from the
University of Minnesota. Each analysis includes accrual net
farm income, the sweet sixteen financial ratios, and a
breakdown of family living expenses and off farm income. It
can also tell you the cost of production for each enterprise
operation you have (irrigated corn on owned land, dry land
corn on cash rent land, irrigated soybeans on share rented
land and many, many more!). This information provides
everything you need to help you make intelligent, informed
financial decisions for your operation. We can teach you how
to interpret the numbers and ratios on your farm analysis and
provide you with an unbiased, informed opinion about how to
help improve your operation.

We can tailor our farm analysis services to fit your specific
operation! There are four different analysis options
available to assist you in making the most informed and
financially sound decisions for your business.
Whole Farm Analysis
- Converts net cash farm income to an accrual basis
- Shows the operation's earned net worth change
- Calculates the "Sweet Sixteen" financial ratios
- Historical data records show trends, and show
where the operation is headed
- Can be the basis for knowing your costs of
production (to find out more see Enterprise Analysis)
Enterprise Analysis
- Provides the producer with the cost of production
(per acre/head/pound) for inputs and the break even
selling price
- Breaks down each piece of the enterprise to allocate
income and costs. Is done separately for crops and
livestock
- Can be used as a marketing tool
- Complements the information provided in the Whole
Farm Analysis
Cash Flow Projections
- Projects a cash flow budget each year for individual
needs.
- Used to make decisions regarding large purchases
for your operation, such as a new land purchase
- Generated using the same program as both the
whole farm analysis and enterprise analysis
- A historic cash flow is produced with our financial
accounting package for the year end
Long Range Planning
- Long range planning allows the farm or ranch
manager to step back from the day-to-day operation
of the business and ask the question, "Where do I
want to be?"
- Allows you to compare alternatives and answer the
question, "What if I tried this, how will it impact me
financially?"
- Helps you make important decisions that will have a
lasting financial effect on your operation, like
purchasing land, machinery or buildings
